What is your furniture made of?
Perennial Park Products® plastic outdoor furniture is made of high-density polyethylene plastic, which is the same plastic typically used to make milk jugs. This plastic is strong which guarantees a long-lasting, great-looking product.
We use a mineral additive to increase strength and decrease the expansion/contraction common to all plastic lumber. Our proprietary formula enables us to offer a plastic product that will last a lifetime yet outperform many of its competitors. We are one of only a few manufacturers who utilize minerals to enhance the properties of their plastic park products.
Why don’t you use 100% recycled content in your park furniture?
Our furniture and site amenities are made using at least 50% recycled content to keep the boards' look and color consistent and attractive. Site furnishings made with 100% recycled material bend easily and cannot support as much weight. By using less recycled material, we are able to guarantee good looking boards of better quality.
Re-use of waste plastic is preferable to the creation of new plastic and the addition of old plastic to the waste stream, which is why at least 50% of the plastic we use in our manufacturing process is recycled plastic.
Additionally--in today's market--it is all too easy for companies and marketers to make unsubstantiated claims regarding the environmental sustainability or "green" nature of a product." Because we value integrity and honesty, all of our green claims are simple and backed up with facts. We will never mislead you regarding the amount of recycled content in our product or the environmental impact of our manufacturing process.
How do I clean my furniture?
Any standard cleaner can be used to clean our products without harming the plastic. Pressure washing is also a good idea from time to time to remove built-up dirt and debris.
Does your furniture get hot in direct sunlight?
Naturally, darker colored products will get hotter than lighter colored products; however, plastic will never reach scorching temperatures like metal furniture.
How does the price compare to wood products?
Plastic costs about twice as much as wood, however, because it requires minimal maintenance and is guaranteed to last for 50 years, your plastic outdoor furniture is a better investment in the long-run. See our Plastic vs. Wood comparison chart to see how recycled plastic furniture is a cheaper alternative to wood over time.
Is your furniture pre-assembled?
No. All products require minimal assembly but no special tools are required. We provide the instructions and all parts and materials needed to put together your furniture.
Are there any dealers or distributors in my area?
No. We are the manufacturer and we sell direct.
How long will your park furniture last?
Our mineral filled plastic park products will last forever as evidenced by our warranty which protects against rotting, cracking, splitting and peeling for a minimum of 50 years.
Is your furniture mold and mildew free?
Because of our closed molecular formula that contains no organic material, mold and mildew have no place to hide and no source of nutrition.
Will insects or termites penetrate my park furniture?
Our furniture and site amenities are insect and termite proof. The closed molecular formula that contains no organic material provides no nutrition source for insects keeping it free of infestation.
How do you fix scratches?
Our proprietary formula has been engineered to be scratch and scuff resistant. While the product will not scuff, it may be cut by sharp objects being dragged across it. Because the furniture has the same color and material all the way through, even deep gouges can easily vanish by simply applying heat with a heat gun or propane torch and a putty knife.
Will the color of my furniture fade?
No one can guarantee against fading but we use the best quality plastic to ensure that there will be no noticeable fading over 50 years. Our color additives contain a ultra-violet protection package to minimize fading.
Will the color be the same from different manufacturing runs?
Although we make every effort to make sure our colors are matched consistently from manufacturing run to manufacturing run, slight color variations do occur occasionally due to the fact that we utilize an average of 50% recycled content in our product.
Can my furniture be stained or painted?
There are no stains or paints that will adhere to our furniture, which makes it graffiti-resistant and low-maintenance. We have a wide variety of colors to choose from, and our boards are colored throughout which means you will never have to deal with flaking or fading color.
Can I replace the wood on my current furniture with plastic lumber?
Yes! We offer Retrofit Kits that allow you to swap wood for plastic with the correct support.
